Appropriate power generation
In many areas of the developing world, even basic energy access is still a privilege, not a right. The problem is most acute in rural and nomadic communities, where lower population densities and income levels make it less practical to establish the necessary infrastructure to connect these communities to the electrical grids that power the cities.
Many communities in developing regions are turning increasingly to solar energy as a means of providing off-grid energy access to their rural populations. In most parts of the developing world, the initial efforts to develop applications of solar energy focused largely on the use of conventional solar cells that were connected to batteries, controllers and inverters. However, such systems were often too expansive for local people, who often earn around $1 per day.
We are developing affordable solar power systems that address aspects of peoples’ needs. These include the scaling of solar power to match the income and needs of people regarding lighting, refrigeration, and mobile phone chargers.
If you are lucky enough to have a stream, river or waterfalls near you, it is well worth considering micro hydro electricity production. While PV is undeniably the simplest renewable energy source to install and maintain, micro hydro systems (units under 1kW capacity) can be the least expensive. The density of water is considerably higher than that of wind. This allows a hydro turbine to be many times smaller than a wind turbine of similar output. In addition, hydro systems are generally able to supply electricity on a 24 hour a day basis.
The micro hydro systems are a very good off-grid source of power in the remote villages in the rain forest of South Pacific Islands because they have rapid streams and water falls near them. We are supplying micro hydro systems for the remote villages of Vanuatu collaborating with the missionary work of Presbyterian Church of Luganville, Santo of Vanuatu (Pastor Won, Tony; wontonio@hotmail.com). Following video capture is the site for installing the system. Videos includes appropriate power generators developed for underdeveloped country people. You may contact us installing them in your area. We are very happy to help you in the name of Jesus Christ.
